Mindfulness, Meditation, Movement : an hour long weekly class in The Park.

I’m running a Meditation Course in The Park Community Centre, here’s a little more about what to expect. Please message me if you would like to go on a waiting list for this course. New course dates will be announced in the coming weeks.

This is a summary of what the course is all about as well as some links to read a little more about what we do in class one. Each class and each course will be similar but a little different to keep our curious minds engaged and calm!  
 

Mindfulness, Meditation, Movement : an hour long weekly class with Sylvia Ferguson.  

For overall wellbeing ~ For stress reduction ~ To focus and calm the mind. 

20 minutes of stretching and mindful movement, seated and standing: for good posture and a relaxed body. 
20 minutes of meditation and mindfulness practices: for concentration, focus, and increased productivity. 
20 minutes of guided relaxation practices: for relaxation, overall wellbeing, and an ability to stay present. 

Who is suitable for the class? Everyone! 

What will the participants get out of this practice? 

1. Learn and develop practical skills of mindfulness, meditation and relaxation.

2. Throughout the practice the nervous system will quieten producing a 'rest and digest' response in the body. 

3. Learn breathing practices to focus the mind for clarity of thought. 

4. Train the body to move into healthier patterns of movement - improve your posture. 

5. Train the attention to notice healthier patterns of thought - destress the mind. 

In week one we explore: 

Standing stretches: Inhale up, exhale down. Shoulder circles. Twisting side to side. Stretching side to side. 

Seated. Good posture. Alignment. Ear, shoulder, hip. Crown of head, palate, diaphragm, pelvic floor. Tips of ears up and back. You can read more about a good seated posture for meditation here

Relaxation. Guided body scan.
